Contact Dermatitis

A skin rash caused by something touching the skin. There are two main types of contact dermatitis: an allergic type, where the immune system reacts to specific substance (such as fragrances, nickel, and poison ivy), and an irritant type, where a harsh substance directly damages the skin. Contact dermatitis typically causes itching, redness, and sometimes blisters where the skin was exposed to the substance.
